Ok good points, nobody should be breaking the rules but my point was that the appeal process should be a way for people to explain what happened and perhaps get some understanding of the situation. The history of the player and it being a first offence should most definitely be taken into consideration if you want to make people feel like they are a part of this server community and want to stay and or come back, and more importantly to the owners Im sure, is to spend thier real life money on the server. Lets face it, as for an owner, they may not really care much about the people who come and go and build a little base that gets abandoned forever and then leaves, they perhaps care more about the people who come and stay and contribute and SPEND their money to support the server. This is what is sometimes lacking in this process, the lack of looking into the facts on the player and having some understanding of the situation as it is presented in the appeal process. And I still believe that the purpose of the punishment shouldnt be to chase people away from an already sparsely populated server. As stated before, there are MANY servers to choose from, what makes this one so special... Im still not sure
Also lets not fool ourselves, everything in life has a moral component to it, everything!
A little bit of understanding and kindness goes a long way in this dark cold world that some people live in everyday. Don't judge! You have no idea what people are dealing with on the other side of their computer screens. You don't know the struggles and injustices some people deal with each time they open their eyes in the morning. A server has the opportunity to be a community and people should try to open their eyes and ears and listen closely to what people are actually doing and saying. A punnishment should be in place to prevent a certain behaviour from occuring again and the appeal process is a good way for people to present a case that what happened might have been a mistake or small lapse in judement for that time, and the history of the player should be taken into account when reviewing the case. A week ban for a first offence is overkill. The server should also realize that when people are banned they have some time to go explore other servers, and there are MANY, some are not so great but a lot are really great with so much better content and better communtiy then most. Chasing away people who have paid for a high rank and willing to spend their own savings on the server is not doing justice to that server. There are always many sides to each situation and yes I agree that young people have a hard time thinking outside the fact that not everything is black or white. It is never so simple and I would reserve my judgment until I can gather ALL the facts from ALL the people involved and from ALL the angles of the situation.
